Tweet this comment Cancel Submit Comment Subscribe to None Replies All new comments by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — Wellington girls basketball team lost its first game of the season with a 53-31 defeat against Sterling, Saturday night at the Kingman Tournament Classic.After trailing Sterling 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Blackbears went on a 13-0 run to start the second quarter and would never look back. The Crusaders were down 35-16 at the half. The second half saw both teams trade baskets with plenty of reserves seeing playing time. The loss drops Wellington to 2-1. The Crusaders start league play next Tuesday when they host Andale.Kailey Jenkins led Wellington with 14 points. Sterling was led by Dani Dowell who had 20 points.
